... and then there were two.

Composed one new song yesterday again, and recorded the guitars & bass for the song, too. And the very same thing happened just today, during the late afternoon. Yesterday's song is about one minute long, while today's creation is about one minute thirty seconds. So yeah, the flow continues and I'm not surprised about that, not at all. I feel I could already craft some more, but instead of letting it flow, I'll head outdoors and enjoy some new years' eve party soon.

Currently there are 9 new songs already, but I think it's not even halfway there yet. I'm not aiming for some certain amount of songs - but I think it's going to be at least 20 songs if not more. Depends also on overall length; I don't want to go beyond 30 minutes.

In any case; happy new year! Year of next Scumfusion album, too. :)

... more.

Another new song was born tonight. This time it looks like about 1min 40sec long piece. Funny case of ... peaceful beginnings combined with lunatic smashin'n'blasting as it gets going. It's already 7th new song, and there was holiday break of several days when I didn't craft new material.

Well, it goes on the way it goes on - meaning that I'll let new material form as long as it feels great and fitting. So far, so ... awesome.

Blast composin'

Even that I spent most of my last free day from work with playing Fallout 4 (and finally nailing the last of the achievements, 84 out of 84 completed) I felt some grind is coming out again. Started composing late in the evening and 1,5 hours later I have a new song ready. Composed and then recorded guitars and bass down for it. Song length: 58 seconds.

I bet more is on the way still during this year. That's what my intuition is tellin' (or should I say yellin' more like).

Grindmas!

Hah, now this is quite lunatic to say the least. I kind of knew it but still ... hilarious. :)

I came home from work about 1 hour ago, with intention to pack. I have about 2 hours extra time for packing. I used the first hour ... not for packing, but I took first guitar, then bass and yeah, you can guess what it means. I just finished recording guitars & bass for the songbase I crafted yesterday. Precise length currently 1min 9sec. Blasty? Oh yeeeshhh ... grindmas time.

So, I guess I'll go packing now. Finally. You gotta prioritize things?

Right on

Another example about inspiration flowing currently: This evening was hectic as I predicted it to be. Lots of things to do, not just packing, preparations, etc. I thought I would not have time for Scumfusion tonight. No chance! Well, somehow I managed to find time enough (about 40 minutes) and it was enough for crafting yet another new song base. Created drums and basic flow for the song, and it looks like about 1min 20sec long song. Weird song base with some grind bursts mixed in. Weird because of the certain invention which I won't be revealing at this point. Could well be that it gets revealed only when the album is ready and released. ^_^

I didn't have time to for recording the final riffs into this new song yet, though - I'll do that right after Christmas and it means the flow shall continue then, too. Until then, happy holidays for now!

Y(ik)es!

Even that I had quite a busy evening yesterday (thanks to our cats amongst other things, as it was my turn to do the 100% cleaning session for their toilet, ha!) I still managed to take 1-2 hours of time late evening for continuing them Scumbursts. And so I did.

I took the "first new song" (the one I mentioned in previous post, rehearsal video from December 2015) I crafted in years for SF, and I kind of reworked it from start to finish. It's still easily recognizable even that reworking it to fit the other new songs gave it a new edge, too. Came out great, I could use that certain c-word once again but ... anyway - it's about 40 seconds long ... so, yeah. Playing guitars down took few short sessions, but bassguitar was recorded with just one take. One minute job including fetching the instrument!

Other new songs vary from 1min30sec into as long as 3 minutes (!) which is longest song for SF in ages. That's what probably made me question first that could this be SF, or is this really a new project. So ... here's the thing worth noting; unlike in distant past, before I had Mood:Doom (the doom metal project) it was like when SF had long(er) song, it almost always meant a slow song. Because it was the Autopsy influence, trying to add doom element to the grind project. Talk about "the grind paradox" there, you know! Well, but that was then ... this is now. Now there might be some longer songs like this one song is already (can't say if it's the only one or will there be others like that, when it comes to length) but you can't exactly use the word "slow" for them. Or of course you can, but it might make you yourself seem bit slow if you get the drift. ^_^

I'd like to continue crafting more already tonight, after day's work, but it could well be that there's now small holiday break ahead. Lots of things to do tonight and gotta pack a bit as I'm leaving my homestudio for couple of days (Christmas) but I can feel it already; I'm returning to the crafting as I get back home and even have few days off from the work.

So, happy holidays to you and ... can't say anything about new year yet as I'm probably writing more here still during this year!

2 days later ...

... and 2 new songs later I can make a clear statement and I'm happy to make it:

This is definitely new Scumfusion material starting to take a twisted, crazy shape. Yeah! The word "crazy" goes in nicely, since it's a fitting description for the certain experimental edge to this new material. And why it's so easy to say this is definitely Scumfusion material and "not some other, new music project of its' own" ... because against my own original expectations, this is getting quite blasty and well, it's straight grind here and there. And I have a feeling it's going to continue that way. And what makes it even better, it fits excellently with the experimental new edge to the music.

It feels I'm bursting out with new song ideas, but I am going to ... take the holiday season peacefully. Happy holidays!

PS: Isn't it a funny coincidence, that almost exactly one year ago I crafted that rehearsal video of short new song?

PPS: If you wonder about that "2 days later", that shouldn't it be like 1 day later ... well, technically from last blog post, yes, but I was counting from making the first new song on sunday eve. Yesterday I composed and recorded another new song, and tonight yet another new song.

New material ... but for whom?

Now here's a situation I certainly didn't see coming: I got an idea for brand new music project during the last weekend and I really liked the idea, too. I still do, of course. And it's not just that; it was such a strong idea that it inspired me to start working on it already during the weekend. How? First I drew logo during saturday since the music idea came with the project name, too (yes!). Got the logo drawn and it came out nicely. The band name is ... kind of weird, but it's also self explanatory. What then? I went and started crafting first song for the project on sunday, and ... got the first song pretty much 100 % completed. It's a crazy song. Not just because of the special extra thing combined with it, but that song is a death metal / grindcore hybrid, furious one at times ... I was actually going to form a new blog for this new project today already, but now here's this little paradox as the first song turned out to be quite chaotic, extreme metal case ...

... which brings me to the good question posed in this post's subject line. You see, originally I had all the details completed, new band project name too and so on. But originally I thought the beats would be, well ... not necessarily extreme metal, while certainly metal beats. Not necessarily blasting. Perhaps occasionally something else than metal beats, too. But how that first song came out, it made me question the project idea and think about whether this idea could be turned into next Scumfusion album instead?

That's what I'm wondering now. Does it make sense to form a new project or should I simply call it a start for making a new Scumfusion album finally? There's something different in the way I recorded the first song (guitars & bass) compared to how I've recorded material for Scumfusion in recent years; the difference is that now I recorded playing in a loose, relaxed way - not trying to play "as precisely as possible". The guitar/bass sounds are both more dirty/raw, too. I have a feeling this wouldn't be as polished sounding as latest Scumfusion release ("Lost constellations" 2013) ... there's also the question of vocals: Scumfusion needs vocals. I was thinking the new project could be actually instrumental, or then it could have freaky/crazy vocals, not necessarily serious in style ... that comes from the certain element in the music.

So, ... I'll have to think about this a bit, perhaps continue composing few more songs and then look how it feels. It's either an all new project with no limitations (like f.e. limited to grind) or then it's new Scumfusion album with this certain element, kind of crazy edge to the music. It depends quite a lot on how the material turns out. If it continues in the extreme style, it could be Scumfusion. If it's not just extreme style, then it's not Scumfusion, clearly.

I'll write more about this as the vision is getting more sharp. Exciting times anyway ... since I really like that new song I recorded yesterday and it is a indeed a crazy extreme metal song. It offers something new in the world of cybergrind, I dare to say, too. ^_^
