Another video, this time very straightforward creation based on jammin' clip from summer 2012.

Harvester of planets

Here's new musicvideo for one song taken from "Lost constellations".

Use full screen and full HD to get maximum angle out of some scifi grind. Since you can't seem to adjust that in embedded video (below), here's direct URL for the video at youtube:

Few words from Timo

Hey all,

I thought I could add few words regarding the recording and release of our latest opus "Lost constellations".

The release date kept getting delayed from day one, and the entire recording process took us something like 10 months, I think. Most of the delays occurred because of work related issues, and life in general. Too many things going on, I guess. Anyway, in January, we initially thought the release date would be somewhere around June, so I think we managed to raise the tempo in the end - if only just a little.

It's funny how some of the most difficult trials during the whole process happened in the end, during mastering. Some of my trusted software refused to work properly, so I had to resort to a couple of plan B's. Luckily those worked out nicely, and I actually learned something from the ordeal (and when does one not do exactly that?). Therefore, I could say it was worth the fight.

Antti was quick as usual with delivering the cover art and all the paraphernalia, and I honestly think the whole package looks and sounds great. There are some truly great moments and riffs and other details in there that made all this worthwhile.

Anyway, I hope you like it as much as we do. Enjoy the "Lost constellations"!

Cheers,

Timo

'Lost constellations' is released

'Lost constellations' is finally 100% ready to be distributed.

The album can be found at Scumfusion's site (package contains all the coverart and lyrics) and all the 20 tracks are streamable with high quality at Scumfusion's Mikseri page. If you wanna take a look at the front cover art right now, you can see it here at Flickr. Here's the tracklisting once more, this time with individual tracks lengths shown.

So, ... all there's left to say for now: Enjoy!

... and it's third times charm.

Yeah, the second master didn't make the cut either. The fixes that were done were both great, but this time technical problems destroyed this second master version. Pointless to explain it in detail, but let's just say that it was unbearable, same problem appeared in every song (!).

So, third master is on its' way and we'll see whether the old saying of "third times charm" works here.

EDIT: To be precise the technical problems with master v2 don't make the next version third one since there were just technical problems. Yeah. But guess what? After those problems got sorted out, we still found real problems from the master v2. One transition problem and one mixing problem of sorts. It looks like they should be fixed tomorrow - depends pretty much on Timo's schedule. Anyway, that means that it really turned into a case of "third times charm".

Second master for us all

Should had guessed that it's simply not possible not to find any errors to be fixed in the first master. Yeah. :) ... Well, both of us found one "error" so it's a draw, heh heh. One of findings was more of an error while other one wasn't so much of an error. And probably listener wouldn't had guessed they were errors in the first place. But anyway, both the problems got fixed already and we are going to listen the second master soon. I'm quite sure this second master will be the final master version.

I've put several hours of work today for the SF, other than just listening the master v1. The lyrics file (which will be A4 sized PDF file) is now final version with graphics and all, with all the lyrics checked throughout and the same goes with back cover art with its' information. Also the front cover got finalized as suddenly the title for this release was born. The release will be called:

Lost constellations

The title ties several of the songs' scifi tales together and also has something to do with the coverart.

In front of our master

Yesterday the first master arrived. We've both been listening to the package and ... it looks like this first master version might well turn into the final master version. If that happens, it would be the very first time ever.

Already talked about the possible explanations for this kind of small miracle. There's one big reason that makes sense - this package has not been rushed at any stage. We've taken all the time (and then some extra) needed and adjusted the material while progressing further.

It is starting to look like this package could be released during April 2013. And hey, April Fools' Day passed already, too, so this is for real!

One step further

The package is going ahead, again. About 1,5 weeks ago Timo finished creating initial base mix / master for the album's band elements. After several listening sessions it was decided that this sounds exactly as we want it to sound. What's next ahead, is that Timo will be designing & crafting space soundscapes for the package. After he's done, it's time for next listening sessions.

PS: The next listening sessions will be special also in the way that the songs will be sorted in final appearing order for first ever time.

One stage completed

All the songs now finally have vocals recorded. Quite a task there, but thankfully now the most demanding stages of getting the package completed are done. Now it's time for mixing stage(s). The very first rough mix listening session was already completed (mainly a checkout mix that all things are ok, nothing big to fix) about a week ago. Next mixes will have more actual mixing work done by Timo. After we both are happy about how the mix sounds, it's time to get the space soundscapes created & mixed in.

This package has taken clearly the longest time to get it completed - but as it's just a hobby, it's not really a big deal for us. It's ready when it's ready. Personally I do hope it would happen let's say before June, but when it happens remains to be seen.

Ahead

Things have been happening during this seemingly silent period. Timo has been active with recording the vocals as only two songs lack vocals anymore. I've recorded more "guitar noises" (or something that might resemble solos to some) and spiced up the songs where needed. After the vocals are completed (and also the soloworks) - it's time for doing the space elements. This time I won't be doing any soundscapes with guitar; Timo is going to handle all the dark ambience.

Still can't say when it's going to be ready, ... but I'm even more confident about how great entertainment this release will be when it's ready. And I'm saying this while I'm listening very rough mixes of the songs at their current stage. It will be awesome!
