Newsflash

Today was the 1st day since ages that I worked with Scumfusion material. Worked literally, not just planned - did some serious drumtests (machinery), liked the initial test result and also crafted a possible new Scumfusion song base while at it. Recorded loosely guitars and got a demo with drums and guitars. Sounded so inspiring that ... well, I felt that it might be soon time for writing new Scumfusion material. Sooner than I'd think. Though I have also plans for continuing the doom metal project, too ... but we'll see.

Oh, the new songbase, it's about 37 seconds long. A noisy start. ^_^

What goes around ...

Last friday I received a guitar I used for recording "under exoriant light" back in 2006. As a matter of fact, I didn't even remember this guitar existing anymore - so receiving it for free was a nice little nostalgic surprise. I gave the guitar to my big sister as a birthday present back in 2007 Spring, and forgot it after that. Why I gave it away in the first place was simply that it wasn't great at staying in tune - I replaced it with some BC Rich guitar back then (which I no longer have either, I've been Gibson products' fan since early 2012).

Ibanez mikro 3/4 scale

I won't be recording anything with this guitar, but I do have some use for it; it works well as travel guitar - something to bring along and play wherever you are. As this is 3/4 scale guitar - it's quite small one. During past weekend I went through the guitar, cleaned it - changed the strings and to my surprise noticed that it seems to be staying in tune quite allright now. Reason? Back in 2006 I have used way too heavy stringset for it! Stupid is, stupid does. So, it will be nice travel guitar ...

... until some day in the future if I proceed with certain aquarium project idea; then I might strip the guitar clean from all metal / iron elements and could possibly use it as decorative element for a bit different kind of aquarium. ;)

Old material served

In past I chose to re'record bunch of my "Aeuk" songs (= nickname I used for creating tracked metal music) for Scumfusion. There aren't that many songs like these, but "Zombies" was one such song (it can be heard in its' original form on "Garage grind days & Z-files") and now here's three more songs like that, served at Mikseri.

- My inner storm

"Zombie twins" was originally done in 2000, and it appeared on "under exoriant light" (2006) as "in weary light". "Gasholesong" was originally done in 2001, and it appeared on "a Lossidian threnody" (2010) as "the silent howl". Last but not least; "My inner storm" was originally done in 2002 and it appeared (with lyrics and vocals included) with same name on "the awakening" (2002).

There are bunch of other "Aeuk" songs at Mikseri as well, some really noisy grind songs included - if you wanna check them out, just head to Aeuk's page at Mikseri. There will be some more Aeuk songs in coming days, selected cuts.

Lineup change

We had recently some talks with Timo about continuing the shared music projects - namely Scumfusion and Mood:Doom - and the thing is that Timo no longer has time for these music projects. It's sad of course, but it's also easy to understand, since life is about making choices, etc. In this case it's mainly about matter of time and how one uses it. We both have had bunch of music projects, and since Timo wants to concentrate to his own music projects, it's logical that he wants to emphasize his own music projects.

Since we are both sort of "multitalented" DIY-musicians, this breakup brings neither of us down. It's end of an era. We had row of very happy and creative metal years, about 10 years doing music together. I wish Timo all the best.

Scumfusion is currently on a hiatus anyway, since I was so satisfied with the last release ("the lost constellations") - and also because I'm currently planning to continue Mood:Doom and probably also Focus Minus before I'll think about continuing Scumfusion further into the realms of scifi grind.

In case if you want to download the Scumfusion albums in mp3 form, packed into rar files, there's still time to do just that. I've decided to quit the Scumfusion domain - the site will disappear by the end of August 2014. In case if you don't know the site, it's:

Why I'm quitting the domain? Well, I've been thinking about this for a long time already. It feels pointless to pay monthly for a domain and have the packages for downloading, since I could as well put them into streaming sites. Like for example Youtube, Soundcloud, Mikseri (finnish music service), etc. I already have latest offerings at some of these sites and ...

... well, the world keeps turning. I've noticed that I've even myself started listening music through streaming services much more, and I'm quite an oldschool kind of guy when it comes to music ... so .. this is logical next step. No longer having a site that needs to be updated (and in my case looks poorly, too) but simply spreading the music online without having a domain. Some of the streaming sites offer download options (in high quality) as well, so download option won't fully disappear, either.

So, if you still want to get the rar packages, "full album packages", go to site as it still exists.
